Sister ships of the Titanic

The White Star Line the builders of the Titanic also had 2 other sister ships to the Titanic.

  • The Olympic was the first sister ship to be built in December of 1908 being constructed 3 months before the Titanic. Her maiden voyage was on June 14, 1911. The captain for her maiden voyage was Edward John Smith who would later command the maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic and would perish in the sinking. Even though the Olympic had numerous collisions unlike her sister ships the Titanic and the Britannic the Olympic did not sink and was retired out of service in 1935.
  • The Brittanic was the third ship to be built in November of 1911. Although she was the sister ship to the Titanic and Olympic she did not carry passengers but in 1915 she was made into a hospital ship in February 1914. Unfortunately in November of 1915 the Brittanic hit a mine and sank.
